Three years ago, if you put a bottle of alkaline water on a conference table in Ahmedabad, someone would ask what it is. Today, the same person expects it. That shift happened faster than most people in the water industry anticipated.
What pH 8–9 Actually Means
Regular packaged drinking water sits at pH 7 — neutral. Alkaline water is above that, typically between 8 and 9. The higher pH comes from added minerals, usually calcium, magnesium, and potassium, introduced after purification. It is not just ionised tap water — the mineral balance matters as much as the number on the label.
At ORA, our alkaline water goes through 10-stage purification first, then a separate mineralisation stage that locks in pH 8–9. That sequence matters. You cannot skip purification and just add minerals — the base water has to be clean before you enrich it.
Who Is Actually Switching, and Why
The clearest adopters right now are corporate campuses and premium gyms. The reasoning is practical: employees and members who are already health-conscious notice the water they are given. Offering alkaline water costs marginally more per bottle than standard mineral water. The goodwill it generates is disproportionate to that cost.
Hotels are coming in from a different angle. For a five-star property or a boutique hotel in Surat or Gandhinagar, in-room water is part of the guest experience, not just a utility. Alkaline water with a custom label turns a forgettable commodity into something guests photograph.
The Questions Worth Asking Before You Switch
- Does your brand already position around health or premium experience? If yes, alkaline water reinforces that naturally.
- Are your guests or employees asking about wellness? Alkaline water is a visible, daily signal that you are paying attention.
- What formats do you need? We supply alkaline water in 500 ml and 1 L. If you need 200 ml for events, standard mineral is more practical.
One Thing Worth Knowing
Alkaline water is not a miracle product. We will not claim otherwise. What it is, is a genuinely better option than plain packaged water for people who care about what they drink — and in 2026, that is a growing percentage of your guests, employees, and clients. Start with 50 cartons. See the response. Most of our partners who try it do not go back.
